oh hey
Kilauea Bakery & Pau Hana Pizza began in 1991 when the Picketts took two old plantation houses, pushed them together, closed in the back porch for kitchen space, and started baking. What began in just half the building you see today slowly grew into something much bigger than a little makeshift bakehouse. We have them to thank for the recipes and techniques we still use today, the staff who stuck with us, and the regulars who gave us a chance.
In 2021, after 30 years, the bakery was passed on to local Sami Livé and her father, Gerald. Today Sami runs the day-to-day alongside her right-hand man Chas, her mom Tima, and a team of 38 incredible humans who keep things moving from 4am to 9pm, every single day.
It’s early mornings. It’s constant pressure. But we do it for the people. Thanks for sticking with us while we continue to grow and evolve. The bakery might look a little different these days, but there’s nothing quite like being taken back in time with the same pastry you had 35 years ago.
We’re just trying to keep that feeling alive.
