We’re Kilauea Bakery, Formerly known as Pau Hana Pizza & lovingly called “The Bakery” by locals.
Established in 1991, we’re proud to be the longest-standing eatery in old Kilauea town. Our space is filled with familiar faces, loyal regulars, and a smiling staff, many of whom have been with us for decades. Here, you can enjoy a fresh bagel and hot coffee, curl up with a book from our donation-based library, challenge a friend to a game of chess, color on our chalkboard, or catch up on happenings via our events board.
Built on community and shaped by time, this is a place to gather and stay awhile. Follow the smell of bread just out of the oven and the sound of stories being shared, and log in to the original social network.

we pour our hearts into everything we make, from the sauces, fillings & dressings to our signature doughs using 40 year old sourdough & lactic starters. One affectionately named “Boris” and the other “Natasha“, derived from wild guava.
We’re known for our innovative recipes, like turning local ulu (breadfruit), which grows in abundance on kaua’i, into delicious gluten-free breads, bagels, pizza crust, pastries & vegan cheese. our vegan cakes are so good they rival traditional ones, and our signature poi malasadas are made using local hanalei taro.
We believe good food begins with good intentions. We are Ocean Friendly Certified, Hawai’i Green Business Certified, we support local farmers whenever we can, and were proudly named Kauai’s Employer of the Year in 2020.
To put it simply, we love this work, this land, and all of the people who make it feel like home.
